SAGEM my 300H Cell Phone
While digging around in the FCC Archives we’ve uncovered the upcoming SAGEM my300H mobile phone, which apparently has recently received the Federal commission’s all important approval.
Not all the specs are revealed in the listing, but based on the phone’s product manual we know the my300H will be a clamshell phone that will work with GSM 850 MHz and PCS 1900 MHz networks.
From the looks of it, the phone doesn’t offer more than the usual built-in camera, java applications, and WAP support. It appears to lack other essentials like bluetooth connectivity (at least there was nothing about it in the manual).
There’s been no word on pricing, but I think its safe to assume this phone is aimed to be an entry level unit more than anything else.

Additional Features for the LG-KC1 The LG KC1, with all its sleek features and state of the art technology, has just been added another function. Coming into the market soon, LG combined another PDA function to their KC1 phone. It strengthened the multimedia function and enables users to use the phones mobile internet function; very easy and very cheap.
The KC1 still runs on Windows Mobile 5.0 and powered by Monahans 806 MHz processor. This is a CDMA/EvDo device, which is fast enough for most people, especially those who believe that the iPhone’s GSM/EDGE connectivity will be sufficient come June. But for the makers of the KC1 merely being adequate isn’t enough as the device also receives T-DMB broadcasts. There’s the Bluetooth and an optional WiFi in case EvDo and especially Wimax do not quite give you the connectivity you expect from all the hype.

Free Microsoft Exchange E-Mail trial for the iPhone
Mobile Gateway 3.0, a tool that allows mobile synchronization between Microsoft Exchange and the email client for the iPhone, was announced by Synchronica to allow free trials for iPhone users. Owners of the Apple Smartphone can now try Mobile Gateway free of charge to send and receive corporate e-mail using their iPhones.
Users of the Apple iPhone have been limited from corporate email systems, because the built-in e-mail client of the iPhone only supports Microsoft Exchange via direct IMAP/SMTP connections – a feature which is often blocked by corporate firewalls due to security concerns. Synchronica now provides a secure Mobile Gateway in the corporate environment using Microsoft’s Outlook Web Access (OWA) to retrieve email from the Exchange server, a service enabled by many enterprises to provide users with access to corporate email from home or while traveling.
The service is easy and straightforward. Signing up for the service is so easy that users simply register their iPhones with Synchronica’s Mobile Gateway and can start to send and receive wireless email immediately – no software to be installed on the device and no connectors or redirectors to be installed in the corporate network.

Hitachi DZ-BD70A Blu-ray and DZ-BD7HA Hybrid HD Camcorders
Hitachi unveiled two new HD video camcorders that can record video onto Blu-ray media. Touted as the world’s first Blu-ray Disc camcorder, Hitachi unveiled the new DZ-BD70A and DZ-BD7HA camcorders.
DZ-BD70A
The DZ-BD70A is a single drive camcorder capable of recording 1 hour of Full HD (1920×1080) high definition video on a standard 8cm single-sided Blu-ray disk (BD-R and BD-RE). For natural colors, the Hitachi camcorder uses a 5.3 megapixel CMOS image sensor and HD quality 12-element lens system. For additional media storage, the camcorder is equipped with an SD card slot – great for storing digital still images taken with the camcorder. The still image resolution is 4.32 megapixels, which is pretty decent. As is common to many other camcorders, the DZ-BD70A features a Photo Capture feature to grab a still frame from any video and save it as a photo onto the SD card (at 2.1 megapixel resolution). As an added bonus, the DZ-BD70A can also record videos onto DVD discs.
DZ-BD7HA
The DZ-BD7HA is a hybrid model offering both an internal 30 GB hard drive and Blu-ray recording capability. The 30GB is good for up to 4 hours of Full HD 1920×1080 HX mode video or almost 8 hours in HS mode (1440×1080). With the touch of a single button, videos on the internal HDD can be burnt onto a Blu-ray disc or DVD (thanks to the Transcoding feature). So you won’t have to wait until you get access to a computer when you want to share your videos.
Both camcorders feature 10x zoom (non-spherical lens), and come in a sleek, round body. HDMI and component video output are available for video playback. A built-in Interactive Guide available on the camcorders help those that are new to them.
The DZ-BD70A Hitachi Blu-ray camcorder is priced at US $1,299, while the DZ-BD7HA Hybrid HDD/Blu-ray camcorder comes at US $1,499. Both camcorders will hit North America in October 2007.

Reverse Engineering Unlocks iPhone
The iPhone can now be used with other carriers? Well that’s what the iPhone Development Team did. They reverse-engineered the software which controls the iPhone’s radio communications, therefore, allowing it to be used with other providers.
The team explained that the iPhone’s radio communications are handled by the Infineon S-Gold2, an ARM-based chip which also controls the iPhone’s multimedia abilities. Its low-level functions are handled by the Nucleus Real Time Operating System which, according to iPhone Dev rebel forces, is one of the fronts that could give them a chance to try to “access or disable the lock from within the system.” By reverse engineering and documenting Nucleus, hackers have reached another milestone towards freeing the phone from the AT&T network. From here, one of their objectives is to be able to manipulate the baseband’s memory, so they can also change communication parameters.
Unlocking the iPhone is not going to be an easy task. This work also shows that the iPhone has two layers now that need to be explored to achieve the total unlocking. First, the one running in the main CPU, the main operating system (Mac OS X). Second, Nucleus running on a secondary chip controlling the access to the baseband’s memory. In other words: two doors, two locks, but also one more front to crack until this Pandora’s Box is opened.
