Sure the specs are the same as any other netbook in the highly saturated market right now, but Samsung at least got one thing right: price!

The company will sell its NC10 netbook later this month

for 299 GBP, and that’s including VAT. This comes out to approximately $530 in US dollars, but Samsung is sure to cut the price further in the States, so it’s all okay.

For 300 GBP, you will land a 10.2 inch, 1.3kg netbook with a 160GB hard drive and 1GB RAM. And it doesn’t look too shabby either.

As rumored before, Vodafone will pick up RIM’s BlackBerry Storm and offer it exclusively in the UK. It looks like the British carrier will dump the Thunder name in favor of the Storm. I’ve gotten used to the Thunder and now I’ll have to get used to the Storm.

RIM is said to announce the BlackBerry some time in October and the

actual phone will hit the shops in November, well in time for the Christmas shopping spree.

What about other countries? Is RIM going to go to Chile again?

There’s not much info on the Sony Ericsson Rika yet. People say it’s a Walkman model of the Sony Ericsson G705. Besides the supposed music capabilities, the Rika seems to have a front camera which must mean it has 3G support.

Sony Ericsson hasn’t announced it yet, so that’s all we have so far: a picture and a bunch of maybes.

Samsung has kept ease of use in mind rather than a fancy design or a huge touchscreen while designing the SCH-u310 Knack, which is aimed at older and visually impaired Verizon customers. The

Knack is molded into a clamshell form factor and has many features that brings technology much closer to the elderly than before. The phone has a generous 2.2-inch display with a pared down interface that leaves complex navigation of menus and submenus out of the scene and a keypad with big buttons that are painted with easily distinguishable numerals. A dedicated 911 key sits alongside an ICE (In Case of Emergency) button providing access for up to three contacts to ensure help at the right time. The headset and power port covers are painted red and blue in contrast with the handset’s black hue to be differentiated effortlessly and there’s also a speaker-independent voice dialing application to enable calling without much fiddling with numbers. If you think you know somebody who could put the Samsung u310 to good use, head over to Verizon to get it at just $39.99 with a new two-year agreement.

Along with announcements of the Nokia N96 and Nokia N79, the folks over at Espoo also unleashed the new Nokia N85 multimedia computer featuring a 2.6 inch, battery-saving

OLED display. The feature set is pretty similar to the N79, including the integrated FM transmitter, 5 megapixel camera, HSDPA and Wi-Fi support as well as 10 pre-loaded N-Gage games.

Where it differs is in its dual slider design and of course the display technology. When the phone is in landscape mode, the gaming keys light up for an enhanced experience. The camera on this baby can shoot videos at 30 fps – which you can store on the included 8GB microSD memory card.

The N85 features a standard 3.5mm audio jack and, with the built-in FM transmitter, you can play your music through your car or home stereo.

The Nokia N85 will be available starting October 2008 for &eur;450 before taxes and subsidies.

One of the hot phones of the year, the Nokia N96, will finally arrive at the American shores in Q4 of 2008. The N96 was introduced to us in the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona

and will be targeted at 3G/HSDPA networks. Featuring a 2.8 inch screen, the phone will come with 16 gigs of memory in a sleek package.

Touted as an entertainment phone, it supports a range of video formats (including Windows Media) along with integration with popular video download services, allowing you to purchase, download and play TV shows and movies right on the phone. It features a convenient kick stand for handsfree viewing.

The Nokia N96 also boasts an impressive 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, Wi-Fi support and A-GPS (assisted GPS) navigation. Obviously it is integrated with Ovi services as well. A 3-month navigation service for Nokia Maps 2.0 is bundled with the phone.

Priced at US $895, the Nokia N96 will be available in Q4 2008.

Sure, people didn’t line up for it like they did for the Apple iPhone, but the Nokia E71 made it to the USA officially at the Nokia Flagship Store in midtown Manhattan. The GSM 850/900/1800/1900

MHz phone supporting HSDPA 850/1900 bands is just 0.39 inches thick and one of the slimmest QWERTY phones available in the market.

Available through the Nokia Flagship stores in New York and Chicago, the Nokia E71 features a one-click switch mode function which changes the phone’s appearance fro work-focused to personal-focused. Goodies include GPS, wi-fi, 3.2 megapixel camera, integrated A-GPS with Nokia Maps 2.0.

Priced at US $500, the Nokia E71 is now available.

Word on the street is that the Samsung Blackjack III is coming soon to American soil. By soon we mean October, which is quite around the corner. The third Blackjack looks good so far and will certainly deliver what’s expected from it.

AT&T is rumored to offer this smartphone. On other streets, the word is that SK Telecom

will retail this Blackjack for around $600 or so in Korea starting this month. The Blackjack III comes equipped with a Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS. Among its features, the A-GPS, WiFi support and 3G HSDPA high speed connectivity are worth mentioning. I’d be curios what will customers choose this autumn. The Blackjack III or the Thunder from RIM.

Sony Ericsson’s new phone, the C902, has made an appearance at the good ol’ FCC. The device is now approved, and should hit the world markets soon. The C902 is another phone in the Cybershot series and compatible with UMTS/HSDPA 2100 and tri-band GSM networks. The camera on this baby is pretty sophisticated, including autofocus, flash, face detection and video capabilities.

Transfering photos onto a PC is easy: you can do it over Bluetooth or USB. You can also print pictures by connecting the camera to a compatible printer. Other usual niceties include PhotoDJ and VideoDJ to manage/edit your photos and video clips. The C902 supports Memory Stick Micro (M2) memory card.

No word on the pricing, but the Sony Ericsson C902 Cybershot phone will be available — check back with us later.
